program SyncBackSE, especially when it comes to versioning. The good news
is that your wish has been granted. The latest release of SyncBackSE 4.2
sees a number of additional features and many updates and fixes from the
previous version.
Note: For "SyncBack" Freeware,
read the section that appears later in this newsletter.
Here's a glimpse of the kind of additional features you can expect
from SyncBackSE V4.2:
• File versioning
• Command to copy newer files over older in Results window (Ctrl-N)
• Specific client certificate to use for SSL/TLS FTP connections
• Stop, pause, and resume all profiles from main menu and tray pop-up menu
This is a free upgrade for all those who have paid for a SyncBackSE
license. To upgrade, simply Download SyncBackSE and run it:

SyncBackSE and SyncBack freeware
There are two versions of
our SyncBack software: SyncBackSE, which is our award-winning $30.00
software, and SyncBack freeware, which is, well, free.
The latest version of SyncBack freeware is V3.2.14.
Download SyncBack Freeware
If you are a user of the freeware, be aware that SyncBackSE includes a number
of significant features that may be of value to you.
Compare the Two
SyncBackSE Improvements
In addition to many smaller additions
and fixes, the new Version 4.2.1 has two significant changes you should
be aware of: Versioning, and Vista support.
Versioning
"Versioning" allows you to keep a number of copies (Versions) of backed-up files. This ensures
that your work is protected as you are developing a document, a program,
a graphic, web pages, or other frequently-changing files. You can tell
SyncBackSE to back them up as often as you like, and to keep the last "X" copies.
Now you can always recover your data by "rolling
back" to a specific version. You define how many versions should be kept to suit your
needs.
Vista Support
SyncBackSE has undergone rigorous testing in the Vista operating system and
many compatibility improvements have been made. If you have Vista, SyncBackSE
is now the backup and synchronization program of choice.
There are many other improvements and fixes including:
• New: Command to copy newer files over older in Results window
• New:
Can stop, pause, and resume profiles from main menu and tray
• New: Can start and stop a profile from tray pop-up menu
• New: Can specify client certificate to use for SSL/TLS FTP connections
• New: command line parameters

Windows
98, ME, and NT support for SyncBackSE
Starting with V4.1, and in line
with Microsoft's support policy, SyncBackSE no longer runs on versions
of Windows older than Windows 2000 SP4. If you are using Windows 98,
98SE, ME, or NT 4 then the last version of SyncBackSE to run on those
versions of Windows is V4.0:
Download SyncBackSE 4.0
SyncBack freeware can still be run on Windows 98 or newer.
