In this update, we tell you about a new article describing the Secrets Manager support in SyncBackPro, and tell you about two features introduced in SyncBack V11. Additionally, SyncBack has been updated. For a comprehensive list of changes, please visit our changes page.

Due to changes in the installation requirements for our software products, we will soon discontinue support for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. The new minimum supported versions will be Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2. It's important to note that Microsoft officially ended support for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 some years ago. Following this change, the last supported versions of our software for these operating systems will be available on our legacy downloads page.

Secrets Manager

SyncBackPro’s Secrets Manager facilitates the secure retrieval and management of sensitive data such as usernames, passwords, and private keys from leading secrets managers, including AWS Secrets Manager, Azure Key Vault, Google Cloud Secret Manager, Windows Credential Manager, and HashiCorp Vault. By integrating with these services, SyncBackPro ensures that your credentials are accessed securely and used directly within your backup operations, without the need to store them in SyncBackPro's profile settings. This centralized approach provides enhanced security and streamlined management of your confidential information.

New V11 Features

Hot Keys: SyncBack has long supported running profiles using a hot-key. In V11, we introduced a new feature that allows you to bring SyncBack to the forefront with a hot-key, even when it is minimized. To enable this, navigate to Global Settings via the burger menu and select the Settings page. If you've defined a hot-key, it will also be displayed in the hint for the SyncBack tray icon. For more details on hot-keys and SyncBack, see the our article.

File Copying: SyncBack offers several methods for copying files, each with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. While the default methods are typically the most compatible and efficient for most scenarios, you may find that an alternative method better suits your specific compatibility or performance needs. With the introduction of SyncBack V11, you can now compare these file copying methods to determine which works best for your particular source and destination in real-world conditions. For more details, see the help file.
