Egnyte and Google Drive
If you are using SyncBackPro with Egnyte or Google Drive then please read this email carefully. It contains important information about changes you will need to make. These changes are out of our control and are being forced by the providers of these cloud services.
Egnyte
SyncBackPro uses a shared key to access Egnyte. This means that unless you provide your own Egnyte key to SyncBackPro, you will be using a shared key. Although this makes it very simple to use Egnyte with SyncBackPro, it means you are likely to experience throttling, i.e. your backups with Egnyte will run slower. Egnyte have contacted 2BrightSparks to inform us that the limits on this shared key are going to be reduced (in May 2024) and that users should instead create and use their own key. If you do not do this then your backups to Egnyte are going to be seriously impacted or possibly fail. Please read our KB article on how to use your Egnyte key in SyncBackPro V11.
Google Drive
The situation is similar with Google Drive. 2BrightSparks have been contacted by Google to inform us that they will no longer allow SyncBackPro to use a shared key. If you are using Google Drive with SyncBackPro then you should create your own keys and configure SyncBackPro to use them. If you do not then your Google Drive profiles will cease to work in the next few months (the deadline is unknown at time of writing). We have two articles (with videos) that explain in detail how to do this:
